Pupils Collect Awards |
|
OVER 300 Pupils , past -pupils and parents packed the hall at NightingaleHigh School , Wanstead last Wednesday. |
|
They were there to see the annual presentation of awards gained by pupils in 1984. |
|
Guests of honour were Redbridge Mayor Councillor John Smith and Mayoress Councillor Audrey Toms . The Mayor congratulated students on their achievements and encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills for the good of the community. |
|
Nightingale had record examination results . One student , Avinash Gupta , gained four A level passes , all at the top two grades. |
|
But Nightingale is threatened with closure under Redbridge council proposals . |
|
“Although the future is uncertain , the results of the school show that our motto this year has been “Business as Usual , “ said Headmaster Michael Wootton. |

“That means we have continued our tradition of ever - improving standards leading to excellent results.” |
|
Chairman of the governors , councillor Bert Hamilton welcomed the guests , including Redbridge education chairman Councillor John Ramsden. |
